That journey eventually led me to found Kermode Rose Holistics, where I now help others navigate their own paths to emotional and energetic freedom.

As a Holy Fire® III Reiki Master and a certified practitioner of the Emotion Code®, Body Code™, and Sound Wellness, I have seen firsthand how the "Heart-Walls" we build to protect ourselves can eventually become the very things that hold us back from our true resonance.

I have designed this self-care toolkit to be both an educational and a practical experience. Section 1: Energy Hygiene—Grounding, Clearing, & Protection

Just as we wash our physical bodies to maintain health, our energetic fields require consistent care to stay vibrant. Without an intentional daily practice, we naturally act like energetic sponges—accidentally soaking up the "static," stress, and chaotic emotions of everyone around us. By establishing strong energetic boundaries before you dive into deep emotional clearing, you ensure you are operating from your own centered power, completely shielded from the influence of outside energy.

Whenever I begin work with a new client, I always ask them: "Do you practice protecting, clearing, and grounding your energy every day?" I ask this because so many of us carry overwhelm that doesn't actually belong to us. The rituals outlined below are the exact tools I use to separate my own frequency from the noise of the world. Because energy work is deeply personal, there is no one-size-fits-all formula. I invite you to use these steps as your daily foundation. Trust your intuition, notice how your body responds, and remember that your healing path is entirely unique to you.

To begin this journey of energetic care, we must first understand the foundation of being truly "held" by the earth.

What is Grounding?

Grounding is the practice of connecting with the Earth and the present moment to reclaim your stability and balance. When we aren't anchored, we begin to feel "off-center.” If you’ve been feeling like you’re drifting or easily overwhelmed, it usually manifests in one of these three ways:

  • Physical (Earthing): You may feel heavy yet "floaty" at the same time. This often looks like struggling with sleep, feeling physically clumsy, or carrying a constant, buzzing level of stress in your muscles.

  • Spiritual: You might feel "not quite here," as if you are watching your life from the sidelines. This disconnect from your soul’s purpose can make it difficult to stay present in your relationships or hear your own inner guidance.

  • Mental & Emotional: This is where we feel "spacey," anxious, or stuck in a loop of past regrets. For Empaths, being ungrounded is particularly draining; without an anchor, you unintentionally become a sponge for the pain, grief, and chaotic energy of everyone around you.

Grounding Tips to Explore

Try a few of these and see which ones become your personal favorites:

  • Physical: Walk barefoot outside, garden, or use a weighted blanket for a sense of security.

  • Sensory: Diffuse essential oils (Cedarwood, Patchouli, Pine) or enjoy a piece of dark chocolate.

  • Color & Crystals: Wear red (shoes, clothing) to anchor your root chakra, or carry Black Tourmaline or Smoky Quartz.

  • Nature’s Presence: Be near trees or water, or use a recording of ocean waves to transport your mind.

  • Movement & Sound: Dance and stomp your feet to a rhythmic song, or hum "OM" three times to ground instantly.

  • Rose Medicine: Keep a mini rose plant nearby. "Smell the roses" is more than just a saying—it’s a frequency!

Karen’s Daily Ritual: Protection, Clearing, & Grounding

I’ve woven this ritual together from the most effective techniques I’ve learned over the years, combined with my own intuitive practice. It is designed to be simple, powerful, and adaptable to a busy life.

While this ritual can be done anywhere through visualization, the shower is a perfect place to build it into your morning routine. The physical presence of water acts as a beautiful conductor for the energetic clearing, making the process feel even more tangible.

Step 1: Protection

As you step into the shower - feel the water flowing over your body. Visualize yourself standing under a waterfall and the water washing over your entire body.

Addressing your higher power (God, Universe, or Source) if you wish, say:

“Please wrap me in white golden light, pink light, and purple light to protect my energy, intentions, and boundaries. Place a pyramid (or another sacred geometric shape) around my aura for added protection. Nothing can enter this space unless I allow it.”

Step 2: Clearing & The Golden Bubble Visualization

Visualize a radiant golden bubble floating just above your Crown Chakra. Extending from this bubble is a luminous cord—choose whatever color feels right to you—that gently connects to the top of your head.

Imagine this cord acting as a sacred conduit. Any "static" or negative energy being released travels up through the cord and is safely gathered into the golden bubble, where it is held in a field of love and light. If practicing in the shower—or simply visualizing the cleansing flow of a waterfall—imagine the water washing over your physical body. Visualize any internal weight lifting and flowing upward into the bubble.

  • State your intention aloud or in your heart:

    “I ask that all negative energy—including but not limited to heavy cords, psychic hooks, contracts, promises, and attachments encountered today or throughout all time—be cleansed and released. May everything that no longer serves my highest good be guided into the golden bubble with love and light.”

How to Close the Bubble:

  • Option A: If you are doing this as a standalone ritual (e.g., in your morning shower), proceed to the Closing steps below.

  • Option B: If you are proceeding to the 7-Day Chakra & Heart-Wall Journey (Section 7), keep the bubble "active." Do not detach the cord yet. You will perform the final release in Section 9 after your toning.

Closing the Release for Option A:

  1. Detach: Take a deep breath and visualize the cord detaching from your crown.

  2. Release: As you exhale, physically blow the golden bubble back to the heart of the Universe. See it floating away to stay there for eternity, transformed into peace where it can do no harm.

  3. Refill: Visualize love and light filling the emptied space in your body. Take one deep breath and tone AHHHHH, then a second deep breath and tone OHHHH.

  4. Ending: To fully seal your practice and align your field, tone OHM three times. Allow the vibration to settle into every cell of your being.

Step 3: The Three-Breath Grounding

To ensure you are fully present in your body, visualize a grounding cord extending from your Root Chakra (for men) or Sacral Chakra (for women) deep down into the crystalline center of the Earth. Follow the routine below taking a deep breath, hold for 3 counts and blow out hard.

  1. 1st Breath: Inhale from your Crown down to the Dantien (2 inches below the navel). Hold. Exhale down to the center of the Earth.

  2. 2nd Breath: Inhale up from the center of the Earth to the Dantien. Hold. Exhale out through your Crown.

  3. 3rd Breath: Inhale from both the Earth and the Crown simultaneously. Exhale the breath out in all directions.

Seal the ritual by saying: “I seal this protection, clearing, and grounding with divine love and wisdom. Nameste"

Karen’s Daily Ritual (Quick version without explanations)

Section 2: The Invitation

We often think of our "walls" as mental boundaries, but a Heart-Wall is a physical, energetic weight that we carry in our tissues. It is a protective shell we built during times of pain—a suit of armor that shielded us once, but now creates stagnation, keeping joy from getting in.

This 7-day Journey is an invitation to move from a state of Protection  (Fight or Flight) to a state of Presence. Your voice is the only instrument that vibrates you from the inside out; it is a cellular massage that reaches places no other tool can. Together, we will use sound to begin softening those barriers.

Section 3: The Heart & The Resonance of Connection

To understand why we feel disconnected, we must look at the heart through three lenses: the physical center, the energetic system, and the protective barriers we build.

Core Definitions

  • The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Located in the upper abdomen; the center of personal power, boundaries, and willpower.

  • The Heart Chakra (Anahata): Located in the center of the chest; the energetic bridge between the physical and spiritual self, governing love and compassion.

  • The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Located at the center of the neck; the powerhouse of communication, expression, and authenticity.

  • The Heart-Wall: A concept developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson (The Emotion Code®), representing an energetic barrier of trapped emotions—like grief, fear, or resentment—built by the subconscious to protect the heart.

  • Vocal Toning: The intentional practice of using your voice to create specific vowel frequencies that vibrate the physical and energetic body.

The Core Power Trio: How the Heart-Wall is Maintained

While the Heart-Wall sits in the chest, it relies on the support of the chakras above and below it to stay in place. These three centers work in tandem:

  1. The Solar Plexus Chakra (The Engine of Protection): When we are hurt, the Solar Plexus acts as the engine, providing the "energetic cement" to build the wall. It keeps the barrier rigid to ensure you stay safe, which can manifest physically as a hardened or "armored" upper stomach.

  2. The Heart Chakra (The Core): This is where the trapped emotions are stored. This density acts like a heavy filter, blocking your heart’s true resonance and leaving you with a literal feeling of emotional heaviness or tightness in the chest.

  3. The Throat Chakra (The Locked Gate): A Heart-Wall often "mutes" this chakra, disconnecting the heart from the voice. Without this vital pathway open, the throat becomes a locked gate, making it difficult to speak your truth, express your boundary, or release stored emotional weight.

How Toning Creates the Release

According to The Emotion Code®, a Heart-Wall is built to protect us and often consists of many distinct layers. In Vocal Alchemy and Sound Wellness, we address these layers by activating the Sacred Vowel System. For the purpose of this 7-day journey, we will be focusing on three specific sacred vowels. Used in this precise sequence, your voice acts as a sonic key to "unlock" all three centers of the Core Power Trio simultaneously:

  • OH (Solar Plexus Chakra) softens the "energetic cement" of the wall.

  • AH (Heart Chakra) vibrates and unbinds the actual layers of trapped emotion.

  • EYE (Throat Chakra) opens the gate, creating the pathway for that energy to move up through the crown and into the Golden Bubble.

The Golden Bubble Visualization: As you tone, you will visualize any stuck or negative energy moving up through your body and out through your Crown, entering a Golden Bubble hovering above you where it is safely contained in a field of love and light.

By toning these sounds, you aren't just making noise; you are manually re-aligning your internal power, love, and expression to help soften and release the layers of the wall from the inside out.

Please remember that a Heart-Wall is built over time, and a 7-day journey is not a guarantee of a complete medical or energetic cure. Instead, this self-practice is designed to gently initiate the process—unbinding the initial layers your system is ready to let go of, and opening the door to your deeper healing journey. Section 4: The Science of Sound (Why it Works)

It might feel strange to think that making a simple vowel sound can shift an emotional state,  but the biology of your nervous system confirms the power of sound:

1. Stimulating the Vagus Nerve

Your vocal cords are located right next to the Vagus Nerve—the "superhighway" of your parasympathetic nervous system. Toning sends a physical vibration to this nerve, instantly signaling your brain to move out of "Fight or Flight" and into the "Rest and Repair" state. This shift allows your body to stop prioritizing survival and start prioritizing deep cellular healing.

2. Lowering Cortisol & Stress

Deep, intentional toning has been shown to lower cortisol (the stress hormone) levels. By shifting your body into a Theta brainwave state, you allow your system to drop into a deep level of relaxation that bypasses the "thinking mind" and speaks directly to the body’s healing intelligence.

3. The "Sonic Bath:” Water & Conductivity

Sound is not just something you hear; it is something you physically conduct. Since the human body is roughly 70% water, sound waves travel through your soft tissue four times faster than through the air. Even more incredible is that sound travels through your bones roughly 12 times faster than through the air. By toning, you are essentially giving your skeletal system and cellular fluid a "sonic bath," reorganizing internal chaos into a state of coherence and turning "murky" energy into structured, vibrant flow.

4. Vibrational Entrainment

Everything has a frequency. Through entrainment, the disorganized, stressful frequencies of trapped emotions are pulled back into a state of harmony by the consistent, intentional vibration of your own voice.

Section 5: The Vocal Alchemy Immersion

This immersion is your personal "sonic reset." Your voice is the only instrument that vibrates you from the inside out; it is a cellular massage that reaches places no other tool can. To understand how this journey works, imagine a singer breaking a wine glass with their voice. When the singer matches the exact resonant frequency of the glass with enough intensity, the atoms vibrate so rapidly they can no longer hold together, and the glass shatters.

Vocal Toning does the same within your body. By matching the sound of stored emotional energy, you cause it to release its hold on your physical tissue, gently clearing the path for your deeper healing.

How to "Match" the Sound

You might wonder, "How do I know what sound to make?" Toning isn't singing; it is simply making a sound with a specific intention. The easiest way to understand this is to think of a sigh of relief. When you have had a long day and finally sit down, you naturally let out an "AHHHH" breath. That is your body’s instinctive way of releasing tension.

The key is to move from your head into your body. When you close your eyes and focus on a specific physical pain, an emotional block, or a mental loop, you are "tuning in" to its vibration.

As you begin to tone, don't try to sing a "pretty" note. Allow your voice to be an honest reflection of what you feel:

  • If the energy is jagged, your voice might sound rough or gravelly.

  • If it is fragile, you might sound squeaky or shaky.

  • If it is heavy, your tone might be very low.

As you continue to tone that "Ah" (or whatever sound surfaces), you will hear the sound begin to smooth out. This shift in your voice is the physical evidence that the energy is releasing, and your system is returning to harmony.

Section 6: The 7-Day Chakra & Heart-Wall Preparation

⚠️ Safety Warning: This work creates a deep "Theta" brainwave state—a level of relaxation similar to deep meditation or the moments before sleep. Do not practice while driving or operating machinery. Always ensure you follow the grounding steps at the end of the session to fully return to your physical presence.

Step 1: Preparation & Vocal Toning Alchemy Breath

  • Daily Ritual: Complete Karen’s Daily Ritual (Section 1) to move from your head into your body.

  • Journal: Briefly write: "What physical, emotional, or mental 'static' am I clearing today?"

  • The Physical Check: Shake out your hands and roll your shoulders to loosen any physical "armor."

  • The Alchemy Breath: Breathe deep into your diaphragm (the bottom of your lungs). Your brain receives 80% of its oxygen from this lower area, signaling your nervous system to relax.

    • Inhale through the Nose, Exhale + Tone (AHH): This specifically activates and clears the Brain

    • Inhale through the Mouth, Exhale + Tone (AHH): This specifically activates and clears the Body

    • The Siren: Warm up by gliding your voice from a low growl to a high squeak—like a siren—to "sweep away the energetic dust."

Step 2: Set Your Core Intention

Before you begin your vocal practice, anchor yourself with a clear, high-level goal. State this out loud or silently to signal your system that the work is beginning. Choose one from the examples below or create your own, and hold this specific goal in your heart as you move into the 7-Day Journey:

  • For Rebalancing & Peace: "I am open to rebalancing my Heart Chakra, letting go of emotional heaviness, and returning to a state of peace and belonging."

  • For Softening Barriers: "I am open to softening my Heart-Wall and realigning with my true resonance."

  • For Vocal & Expressive Freedom: "I open the channel between my heart and my voice. I am ready to safely speak, express, and release what no longer serves me."

  • For Empaths & Grounding Boundaries: "I clear away all energetic static that does not belong to me, and I anchor firmly into my own power and sovereignty."

  • For Gentle Processing: "I give my body and soul permission to release old, trapped emotional layers at a pace that feels safe, gentle, and supportive today."

Step 3: Activating the Core Power Trio

Now, we apply our vocal keys to the three specific centers that work together to support your energetic boundaries:

  • The Solar Plexus Chakra (Tone: OH): Softens your center of personal power and boundaries, helping to ease the "energetic armor" often held in the upper abdomen.

  • The Heart Chakra (Tone: AH): Vibrates your core center of compassion and love, inviting a gentle softening around trapped emotional energy and heavy density.

  • The Throat Chakra (Tone: EYE): Unlocks your center of truth and expression, opening a natural gateway for stagnant energy to comfortably move and shift.

The Rule of Seven: How to Practice

For each specific vowel used in this journey (OH, AH, and EYE), tone 3 to 7 times only, using one full breath per tone. Do not exceed 7 tones per energetic center (or chakra) during your daily practice.

Following Your Daily Focus: To get the most out of this process, you will follow the specific daily targets laid out in Section 7: The 7-Day Chakra & Heart-Wall Journey. Each day will guide you on exactly which center or combination of sounds to focus on.

While you should follow the daily roadmap provided, always trust your intuition regarding your starting point on days that require multiple vowels (Days 5, 6, and 7). You are welcome to begin with whichever active chakra you feel most called to first. However, to maintain a steady and grounding energetic flow, fully complete your 3 to 7 repetitions for your chosen vowel before moving on to the next one, rather than jumping back and forth between different sounds.

Step 4: Finding the Resonance

Don't try to sing a "pretty" note. If your stored energy is shaky or rough, let your voice be shaky or rough. As you match the frequency of the block, you will hear your voice begin to smooth out. This is the physical evidence of release.

Section 7: The 7-Day Chakra & Heart-Wall Journey

Now that you have your vocal keys ready, you are set to begin your active itinerary. If you visualize energy shifting in any way during your practice but it hasn't quite reached the Golden Bubble yet, that is perfectly fine for today. Trust the process.

The Daily Focus: Guided Targets for Toning

On each day, engage in your journey by taking the Core Intention you chose in Section 6 (Step 2) and directing it into that day's specific focal point using the Sacred Vowel System (specifically using the OH, AH, and EYE tones for this journey):

  • Day 1: The Heart Chakra (The Core). Focus on your Heart Chakra using the AH tone. Imagine the vibration touching a layer of your Heart-Wall. Visualize that density moving up toward the Golden Bubble.

  • Day 2: The Solar Plexus Chakra (The Support). Focus on the Solar Plexus using the OH tone. This center holds the "power" behind the wall. Tone OH until you feel the "armor" in your upper abdomen soften and lift.

  • Day 3: The Throat Chakra (The Release). Focus on the Throat Chakra using the EYE tone. As you tone, imagine a clear channel opening. Visualize the "static" of unspoken truths clearing out through your crown.

  • Day 4: The Auric Field. Focus on the space around your body. Choose whichever tone (OH, AH, or EYE) you feel drawn to. Feel the vibration "sweeping" your Aura and pulling lingering debris into the bubble.

  • Day 5: The Triple Alignment (Integration). Tone the full sequence (OH—AH—EYE). Focus on the connection between these three points. Visualize the sound acting like a gentle solvent, helping to soften and release Heart-Wall layers.

  • Day 6: Deepening the Flow. Continue the full sequence practice from Day 5. Even if you only move a small amount of energy today, notice the growing lightness in your chest as the bubble collects what is ready to leave.

  • Day 7: Integration & Sovereignty. Practice the full sequence (OH—AH—EYE). Instead of looking for what to "clear," focus on the new space you have created. Feel the safety of being "fully home" in your body and notice how much your heart has softened over the week.

Important: At the end of every daily session, you must proceed to Section 8 (Integration & The Soul Star) and Section 9 (The Closing Alignment) to fully clear your space and return safely to your day.

Section 8: Integration & The Soul Star

Sit in silence for a few moments. Because you have moved significant energy up the spine toward your crown, you may feel lightheaded or "airy." This is the time to anchor that new frequency.

  • Connect: Focus about a foot above your head on the Soul Star Chakra. This is your connection to your Higher Self and Soul essence. Imagine a brilliant white or gold light here, radiating peace.

  • Examine: How do you feel? Notice the newfound quietness of your mind. Shift your focus to just outside your body and "sense" your energy field (your Aura). Is it wider? Is it clearer?

Journal: Capturing the Frequency

Before you fully return to your day, take a moment to record the "language" of your soul. Briefly write down your answers to the following:

  • The Shift: What is the primary difference in my body now compared to before I began today’s journey? (e.g., “My chest feels lighter,” or “The buzzing in my head has stopped.”)

  • The Insight: Did any specific image, memory, or word surface during the toning?

  • The New Space: What one quality (joy, peace, etc.) do I want to invite into the space I cleared today?

A Note on Deep Integration

While this 7-day journey is designed to soften the surface layers of the Heart-Wall, deep-seated emotional "static" can sometimes feel like a complex knot that requires a more specific frequency to unbind.

If you find that certain areas of your body remain "silent" during your Vocal Toning, or if an emotional loop feels too heavy to shift on your own, please know that you don’t have to navigate that alone. This work is a layer-by-layer process; sometimes, having a resonant witness to help "match" those deeper frequencies is the key to final liberation.

Section 9: The Closing Alignment

Visualize the Golden Bubble above your head, now full of the released energy from your session.

Address the Universe (or your higher power) in your heart:

"I ask that this golden bubble, full of released energy, be returned to the Universe to be transformed into peace for eternity."

The Release: Take a deep breath and visualize the cord detaching from your crown. As you exhale, physically blow the golden bubble back to the heart of the Universe. See it floating away into the light, transformed into peace where it can do no harm.

Refill & Seal: Visualize the "emptied" space in your body filling with radiant love and white light. Take one deep breath and tone OHHHHH, then a second deep breath and tone AHHH.

Finish by toning three OHMs to fully ground your energy back into the physical present. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water.

Section 10: Beyond the Core Trio

The Heart, Solar Plexus, and Throat are the gateway, but they are only part of a much larger, more intricate map. While the 7-Day Chakra & Heart-Wall Journey is a powerful way to begin Vocal Toning and softening your Heart-Wall, deep and lasting transformation often requires a more specialized application of frequency through Vocal Alchemy.

The Full Vocal Alchemy System: At a Glance
